Sex Addiction

Psychotherapy, in conjunction with other treatment modalities, can help you to understand and change compulsive sexual behaviors. For some, sexual activity becomes less about satisfaction and enjoyment. People use this behavior to avoid difficult feelings and as a way to cope with stress. At some point, this “process addiction” evokes changes in brain chemistry (endorphins and enephlines) that reinforce the behavior and make it very difficult to stop. The hallmark of a problem behavior is that it is causing damage in other areas of your life, including relationships, work, and physical and emotional well-being.
