Counseling for Gay/Lesbian/
Bisexual/Queer Adults
Did you feel stigmatized and judged for being gay as you were growing up, or even as an adult? You may be experiencing the residue of that childhood shame, a general feeling of sadness or unhappiness with life, or difficult or painful family relationships that you can’t seem to resolve.
Gay, lesbian, bisexual, or queer adults have the same range of issues as most people, including anxiety, depression, and couple’s problems. But growing up gay and unaccepted, whether it’s your family’s discomfort, bullying in school, or condemnation from religion, can leave you with feelings of shame, low self-esteem, or even self-hatred. Although it does get better with time, this negativity leaves an impact.
Counseling can help
As a gay man myself, I know that a therapist who understands and empathizes with your issues and supports and affirms your lifestyle can make all the difference. I have many years of experience counseling gay men and women, and have been working with gay couples for more than a decade.
In therapy, we will use a variety of approaches to work with your issues in the positive context of your gay, lesbian, bisexual, or queer identity. Together, we will discover fresh approaches to finding a rich, full, and meaningful life.
