My Approach

jim christup headshotMy approach to psychotherapy is based in my belief that human beings are integrated, living systems. Mind, body and spirit operate together, not as disconnected parts. I have found that an integrated body/mind/spirit approach to counseling and psychotherapy can be especially effective in working with many difficult life problems.

Even as we struggle with our own life issues, we already have the qualities we are looking for, deep inside. Despite feelings of anxiety or depression, inside ourselves is a well of calmness, clarity, curiosity, compassion for ourselves and others, confidence, courage, creativity, and connectedness waiting to be tapped.

Our innate life force naturally wants to move toward greater wholeness and healing. Therapy supports and encourages this process, gently removing the blocks and supporting you as you begin to reconnect with your inner inner aliveness and bring it out into the world.

I have been trained in Hakomi, Buddhist Psychology and Mindfulness Practices, EMDR, Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
